Yamaha KX-W602 Dual Cassette Deck

Description

This is a very good quality dual cassette deck from Yamaha. There is not a lot of information about these units on the web as they predate the expansion of the Internet, so user manuals, specifications and reviews were almost all in print, not electronic form. Only a few enthusiasts have gone to the trouble of scanning in the documents or providing information about the units on the Web.

We use it mainly for digitizing old cassettes and occasionally test recording demos to see how they might sound in cassette format.

Reviews

This is an excellent twin hi-fi cassette deck that allows a great degree of control and functionality compared to most cassette decks. With Dolby B & C noise reduction, MPX filter, programmable tracks, auto-reverse and high speed dubbing, it is a very handy and high quality tool to have on hand. We still have a great deal of material on old cassettes, so this unit comes in very handy for playback and also for digitizing these tapes. Another use is to record to cassette for monitoring purposes, i.e. to find out how a sing might sound when copied onto a cassette and played back in various scenarios, such as a car or old stereo system.

The Yamaha KX-W602 is an old favourite of mine, as it has served me well and never fails to deliver quality and ease-of use in a very functional unit.
