The Stanton T.92 USB is the most versatile and usable turntable that I have ever used. If you’re looking to take your giant stack of vinyl into the future that is mp3, this turntable is more than capable. The price is affordable and it has astounding sound and build quality, there’s not a person I wouldn’t recommend this turntable to.

The Stanton T.92 USB turntable has a stylish, durable, and eye-catching design. The build quality is surprisingly high quality. The turntable is made of a high-grade plastic, unlike the metal used in most DJ level turntables. There is some sparse metal amidst the plastic, but it is used as accenting in the design. This lack of metal allows the T.92 to be a much lighter turntable, and therefore, much more portable. The buttons on this are well-placed, making them easy-to-find without having them in the way of your movement.

The T.92 is ready to play any vinyl format you can throw at it, including your old 78’s. You can easily adjust the pitch or key of your record with a slider at the side. Novices may be confused by all of this, especially when they first use the device and have to balance the needle, but the manual does a good enough job of explaining the basics to the user.

The T.92 not only plays your records back for you through either your computer or your speakers, but can also record your vinyls and encode them into the mp3 format. In this respect, the T.92 helps you remember the past, while embracing the future. The included software is functional and streamlined, made specifically for encoding purposes. Pyro is very user-friendly and most anyone can encode their records in a snap. Pyro has a well-designed interface and is quite intuitive, but this is not your only option. You can also choose to use the free software Audacity, but this may be for more advanced users. Audacity is bare-bones in design, but goes far beyond what is expected in features on free software. Audacity encodes the same as pyro, but if you want to tweak your records a little more and exert more control over your listening experience, Audacity is the best choice.

I had little trouble starting up the T.92 and connecting it to my computer. My computer immediately recognized and installed all the necessary drivers. All I had to do was choose the input and output, and playback was a breeze. The records sounded rich and sharp when played through my speakers, but playback will vary depending on the quality of our own speakers. Encoding my vinyls into mp3 was just as simple a process and the software was more than enough. With some tweaking in Audacity’s settings, I could listen to the record as it was recorded (a common complaint in the audiophile community).

Wrap Up

At an affordable price with as many features as a full DJ table, the T.92 is recommended to anyone who wishes to bring vinyl back into their life. Many new artists are releasing their albums on vinyl and sales have increased drastically. Vinyl is back and with the T.92, it’s better than ever.
